Anniversaries

Today is the 170th anniversary of the Battle of Gonzales, the beginning of the Texas Revolution.

It is also the 55th anniversary of the Charlie Brown's first appearance in major newspapers in the Peanuts comic strip.

Well, I can't pass up this opportunity since you mentioned my hometown. This past weekend was the annual "Come and Take It" celebration in downtown Gonzales. I made an interesting discovery about myself. I must be getting old! I didn't have the least bit of interest in going down to the square and watching the parade or going to the carnaval. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy history as much as the next person, and Gonzales history more than most people. But, after 33 years of the same celebration, it's hard to find anything new and exciting on the square. Oh well, plenty of people were there so I'm sure it was a success.

With the history of the family so tightly woven in to the history of this small Texas town I know those in the Littlefield plot would appreciate your rememberance if they were alive.
